• Wellman help avert £1m per day disaster

Wellman Robey, who operate an extensive fleet of steam and hot water boilers for emergency and planned maintenance hire, have helped avert a possible daily production loss approaching £1.5 million for an international oil company located in West Wales.

A spokesman for Wellman explains, "This is one of the most high profile rescues that Wellman Robey has effected in its one hundred and sixty year history. The emergency response began with a late afternoon telephone call from the client requesting immediate hire of a large trailerised steam boiler and bunded fuel tank to stand in for their own boiler, which had to shut down due to a major electrical fault in the boiler house. We had plans underway within an hour to get the equipment to site as quickly as possible.

The 20,000 lb/hr trailerised boiler, along with its own 11,000 litre bunded oil tank, arrived on site ( 200 miles away ) early the next morning and was quickly commissioned by our own engineers to provide steam to the clients steam main. One of our engineers assisted on site for the following few days until the client's team were happy running the hire boiler by themselves. The hire equipment remained on site for three weeks while the client was able to rectify their plant room electrical fault."
